Urban Design - Continued Group Development 05 (Energy Harvesting)

With the local plan finalised and the landform set in a way that allows for our desired movement of water I decided to start planning out in greater detail a new concept for harvesting energy from tidal river flow.

The concept, which relies on basic principles (such as Faraday's Law of Induction) works both on a a micro and macro scale. Essentially each device will be constructed at the size of a fingernail, When the levers on each size of the device move, then push a magnet through an electric coil generated an electric current which is then stored in a nanocapacitor. The tidal nature of the river and the design of the landform should promote constant movement of these levers throughout the day. The devices are then mounted in the millions through underground channels, designed to maximise surface area and the disturbance on flow. Much like the cross section of a lung, these channels with spread out in branches eventually leading back to a central powerstation which will power the entire site and more. This limitless form of energy makes use of rising water levels and could eventually be implemented all over the world.
